Anthony Kiragu works as Conservation Officer with the leading NGO Nature Kenya. He is working to ensure the legacy of Darwin project 162/11/003 on Important Bird Area monitoring and management. The scholarship would last for one year from September 2005 and will enable him to complete the MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation at University of East Anglia. He will gain additional experience through supervision of scientists at RSPB and BirdLife International, including placements, workshops and four months undertaking thesis work on an RSPB reserve. On his return to Kenya he will be equipped with skills in particular to ensure development and implementation of management plans using data from the Darwin programme.
