The trip will help to conduct meetings with main contacts included in the application. With the help of these contacts meetings can be arranged with the main stake holders and potential community groups to agree priorities to develop the main proposal. There are a few hundred native orchid species in Laos which are unique and have a high horticultural and scientific value. Some of these species may disappear within a decade as orchids are unscrupulously collected from the wild for trade in neighbouring countries such as Thailand and China. The stakeholders and community groups could work together to develop to cut out the illegal traders with help of the main project.
