Summary
MAIN - To save the critically endangered saiga antelope from extinction and support impoverished rural communities by building a framework integrating saiga conservation and sustainable use of natural resources with communities’ needs and aspirations.
MAIN - 1) Foundations of SMAs able to continue saiga protection. 2) Trained rangers, wardens and young scientists to continue monitoring. 3) An understanding in the region of the philosophy and methods of community-based conservation. 4) Sustainable livelihoods for rural people. 5) Scientific research focussed on linkages between human activities and saiga ecology.
